Day 13 – Stage 6 Tui, Spain to Redondela, Spain

Ok. So here we go on our longest planned stage of the trip, right around 22 miles. For those who heard my story from 4 years ago, let’s just say I encountered some significant issues on this stage in 2019. That said, we decided to give it a go. So, issue #1. I planned to restock on my 400mg ibuprofen at Tui but did not factor in that we arrived Sunday and all pharmacies were closed. A quick look at the map showed the first one was 10 miles into the next day. Oh well! Redondela was a neat town. We had pizza and beer with our adopted camino children. Our surprise was that it was a local saints day. They had a procession around town, which was very cool. What we did not know is that as a part of the celebration, a VERY loud Canon went off every 30 mins …. UNTIL MIDNIGHT! Oh yea .. Niki finally stayed in an alburque. Top bunk and everything. Shared bathroom and shower. She did handpick her other 3 bunk mates. Our Camino children Pearl and Flora. It was a hoot! Flora was sure to mess with Niki and let her know it was not a real alburque. She said in a real one you sleep with 60 other people in one room. Sometime in the middle of the night Niki was talking in her sleep and yelled “ Its a real Alburque”. Hope you like the pics.
