Day 03 through 6, 4 Days in Italy

Rome and Vatican City.

We spent Easter Sunday in Rome and Vatican City. We slept a little too late to make it to mass. 😀 This post is short and sweet. We definitely have gotten our feet warmed up for the Camino. So far we have hit around 50+ miles walking London, Rome, and Florance. We leave for Porto, Portugal in the morning. Looking forward to getting our pilgrim passports and starting starting the 13 day journey on the Camino de Santiago.

Florence for a Day

So our first audible for the trip.   We had a tour of Vatican City planned for day 2 in Italy but the forecast was not cooperating.  Rain all day.   SO!    We grabbed the bullet train to Florence where it was sunshine and spent the day there.  Incredible day started at the Central Market that opens at 6am for all the restaurants to come pick out the food for the day.   We had some great food for breakfast and grabbed some meat and cheese for later.  We then went to an Enoteca for a bottle of homemade wine.  The day was great.   We also visited an enoteca with a wine window – super cool.   All in all a great day in Florence.  We will be back.

I love a good wine window 🥂😁

Rome, Italy

Tomorrow is looking pretty bad weather wise so we are looking at a few audibles we can call …. stay tuned!

So day one in Rome …..  first off we were a bit worried about the hotel due to being on the main road. It is fine, and the location from the train station is literally a 5 min walk.  That said, we both wish we were a bit more closer to the sites. We arrived in Rome about 3pm and still managed to get in 20k+ steps.   The food was amazing.    We shared a pasta dish with black truffles dish that was awesome along with some awesome wine. Like normal, we got to almost all the sights we wanted to see minus Vatican City, which is on the agenda tomorrow and the Coliseum.
